The ‘New’ Hygiene Code and Regulations for Healthcare Institutions, Residential Facilities, and the Military: What You Need to Know

Since July 2023, the Nutrition Centre and healthcare institutions have relaxed food safety regulations due to the severe staff shortage. Experience shows that there is especially a need for basic knowledge among staff.

Discover how to properly meet the ‘new’ standards!

1. The Importance of Handbooks in Healthcare

A customized handbook outlines your organization’s policy on working safely with food and serves as a valuable addition to the applicable hygiene code.

2. Less Administration Thanks to the New Hygiene Code

  • For large institutional kitchens, there are now only two registration requirements: the heating and cooling-down processes.

  • For household kitchens, only the cooling-down process needs to be registered.

  • Measurements are still mandatory, as is recording any corrective actions taken.

3. Corrective Measures

Take immediate action when deviations occur!
For example: adjusting a refrigerator in time when the temperature is too high, or returning products from a supplier that don’t meet agreed standards.

Would your organization still prefer to record all measurements? A customized handbook provides clarity, explaining all procedures in detail.

4. HACCP Team and Training

Form an HACCP team and ensure that all employees working with food receive proper training. This guarantees food safety for your patients and residents.

5. The Importance of a Complete Package

Proper knowledge is essential. We provide training, e-learning, and annual audits. Together, we make sure your staff understands and follows all protocols.
