Calibration
Calibrating temperature sensors or thermometers
It is not without reason that HACCP and Legionella prevention legislation and regulations require you to calibrate your temperature sensors and thermometers at least once a year. Eurofins Bureau de Wit can take care of this for you. Let us calibrate your temperature sensors and thermometers so that they always display the correct temperature for food and water.
What is calibration?
During calibration (also known as “verification”), we check the extent to which your measuring instrument deviates from the requirement. We always do this onsite at your location. These checks ensure that the thermometer or temperature sensor is displaying the correct temperature.
After calibration, you will receive a certificate from us. You can show this official document when you receive a visit from the NVWA or IL&T.
Calibrating versus verifying a thermometer
There is a difference between calibrating and verifying thermometers.
Verification: we measure the deviation from the actual temperature and issue a certificate for this.
Calibration: goes one step further and is only required by law in specific situations (e.g. water meters, petrol pumps).
Are you unsure whether your organisation needs to calibrate its thermometers or whether verification is sufficient? We will advise you on this.
Want to buy a calibrated thermometer?
Are your thermometers due for replacement or do you need extra thermometers? Then you can buy calibrated thermometers from us.
