Butcher’s tip
Keep your products fresher for longer with proper temperature control
Did you know that as a butcher, you can keep your homemade products for a longer period if you store them below 3°C? But be careful: this only applies if you monitor that temperature continuously!
Why is this important?
If the temperature rises above 3°C, the shelf life can decrease drastically:
-
From 4 to 2 days for fresh products
-
From 14 to 7 days for post-pasteurised products
Our tips for reliable temperature control:
-
Don’t rely solely on the display of your refrigerator. It can be inaccurate! Check the temperature at least weekly with a calibrated thermometer.
-
Insert the thermometer into a small container of alcohol inside the fridge instead of directly into the product. This prevents cross-contamination and gives a more accurate reading.
-
Pay extra attention during periods of intensive fridge use (frequent opening and closing).
Small effort, big results: longer shelf life and safer products!
